Can I get a shout out for the Detroit Yacht Club? I so love shooting at this venue. The giant windows overlooking both Belle Isle and the Detroit River and all the wonderful nooks and crannies, sandwiched between stone that carries with it a sense of glamour and humble prestige … it’s become one of my favorite venues in the area. So I was psyched when Colleen and Sam chose me as their photographer. Okay, and not only because I loved their venue but because of these two lovebirds! Both of them are lawyers so have a definite get-down-to-business way about them but they also can get-down-and-get-silly, as I found out while shooting their engagement shoot last year on the U of M campus. Sam is a giant teddy bear and Colleen seems to melt into his arms. They are both so lovely and their wedding day was pretty amazing. (And wait till you see Colleen’s dress!) I had never shot at the Belle Isle Conservancy and, as a photographer and a plant lover, it was a dream (oh, if I could live on the light in there!) We had other plans to spend time shooting on Belle Isle but the conservatory was just so awesome, I knew we could scrap the other plans and not be left wanting for anything else. They’re reception was a serious party with, I must mention, one of the best, most hilarious toasts from the two matrons of honor. Their wedding day was seriously some good stuff from beginning to end.
Congrats, Colleen & Sam! Thank you for choosing me to document your day!
