When I’m photographing, I’m watching and looking for the moments in between what you *think* I want to capture. Those are the moments where the magic hides and it's my goal to reveal it! I’m obsessed with watching how people connect – I see those sideglances and I notice the way you hold fingers, just so. If you’re feeling nervous, I’ll shake your hand out to let it fall on your beloved in a natural way. Stiffy hands and correct posture went the way of the 1950s – I want to photograph you being Real! My ideal clients are folks who are invested in their wedding photos being extremely awesome and are excited to be active participants in creating them. I’ll get to know your family and your friends, letting the day unfold organically, constantly moving, engaging, making portraits, playing with details and stealthily recording the day with grace and creativity. I direct to take advantage of the best possible light and to help you feel unposed in your poses but I’ll also capture you and your people in a more documentary-style. I still believe in capturing a few family portraits and I use an editorial and fashion influence on you as a couple. The result is a classic collection of art + stories – a refined blend of sweetness, intimacy, authenticity and fun! Every wedding is as unique as each bride & groom, and I strive to tell each complete story, with all the nuance of something as complex as love.
I grew up in Michigan and then lived it up in California for 15 years, only to return to these lakes with a husband a cat and a six-month-old in tow. Our littlest girl was soon to come and is now four-months old! I love to move as much as I love to sit; I obsess over getting to yoga and could sit and watch Breaking Bad in it’s entirety. All I can see out my office window are trees and I love that.
After photographing weddings for 10+ years, I don’t think I could love a job more; I get to photograph love and intimacy and celebration and fun and you pretty much can't beat that. I strive to faithfully document my clients and their loved ones in the most beautiful and authentic way possible; I try to communicate how it might feel to be alive in the very second the photograph captures. I love to travel and am available for worldwide celebrations! I’ve been blessed to photograph weddings from Switzerland to Tulum and my images have been published in numerous national magazines and high-end wedding blogs.
If you think we’re a good fit, get in touch ~ I look forward to hearing from you!
